I was born in the concrete jungle of Coventry, England, and have lived in Sydney since 1986. I am a curious bird, and like to look to the past for ideas, with the aim of pushing these ideas to a contemporary and quirky finish. I am also inspired by the landscape next to where I live at Careel Bay Wetlands, and usually work between the two, often on a few works at the same time. Although I mainly work in oils, I am not limited by anything, and like to experiment with other materials such as packing moulds, bubblewrap and fashion and gardening magazines. I am influenced by anything that takes my fancy, such as the spiderweb I’ve just walked through, to the crack in a pavement full of muck, to the old masters such as Watteau, Ensore, Daumier, and the not so old Bruce Connor.
I am currently exhibiting at 'Chelsea Lane Gallery', Chelsea Lane in Avalon for the second month (different work from last month). I am also exhibiting at Glen Street Theatre and shortly he BlackSheep in Newtown. busy month. It is very satisfying to have the work out there and appreciate the exposure these places bring.
